Haryana govt reviews working of Expressway
Chandigarh, Apr 15 (UNI) The Haryana Government has asked the Concessionaire of Kundli-Manesar-Expressway (KMP) project, KMP Expressways Limited, New Delhi, to accelerate the progress of work so as to complete it within the scheduled period of three years.
This Expressway is the longest project of its kind currently under development in India on a Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis.
These directions were given to the Concessionaire in a meeting of the High-Powered Committee (Expressway) here today. The committee was constituted by the state government under the Chairmanship of Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, M L Tayal to monitor the progress of the project.
During the meeting, the Concessionaire was also asked to give complete schedule of the project so that the same could be reviewed on a monthly basis.
With a view to maintain the tempo for speedy and timely completion of the project, a Co-ordination Committee headed by Deputy Commissioners of the districts concerned was formed. The other members of this committee include the concerened District Revenue Officers, representatives from the Police Department, Public Works Department, Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, Utar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, Power Utilities and Irrigation Department.
It was further decided that the Co-ordination Committee would hold its meeting once in a month.
The Concessionaire of this project made a detailed presentation about the physical progress achieved at site so far. The prominent issues which were discussed in the meeting include the financial closure achieved by the Concessionaire, environmental clearance received from Union Ministry of Environment and Forest, and issues relating to various departments like Forest and Public Works Department (Building and Roads) with regard to approval of concept plans pertaining to interchanges to be constructed along the alignment of the expressway.
Apart from sorting out most of the pending issues, the other issues, which were discussed included those concerning Irrigation Department with regard to approval of the design of box culvert and minor bridges on irrigation channels. The issues concerning National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for approval of concept plans of inter changes on NH-1, NH-10, NH-8 and NH-2 and Northern Railways for approval of Railway Over-Bridges (ROBs) of the railways portion were also discussed.
