Five arrested for cricket betting in B'lore

Bangalore, Apr 15 (UNI) Police today arrested five people on the charge of indulging in cricket betting and recovered property documents worth Rs 38 lakh from their house at Wilson Garden in the city.

Police said the accused, including a father-son duo, were involved in betting on the South Africa-New Zealand World Cup match last night, at a bungalow on Nanjappa Road in Shantinagar.

Police said the accused had been in touch with several people in other cities and countries to carry on betting for the last one year. Though five people were nabbed, 16 others managed to escape.

The seized items included documents of property worth Rs 38 lakh, 17 mobiles, four landline phones, two lap-tops, a computer, three TV sets and Rs 82,000 in cash.

The accused were identified as Yogesh (59), Jnanesh (33), Naresh, (40), Arun,(20) and Rajesh (32).
