New Delhi, Apr 15: National carrier Indian's facility at the Jet Engine Overhaul Centre (JEOC) has again been granted the status of approved foreign repair station by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

After a detailed and stringent audit, the FAA renewed the certification recently. This will enable Indian to continue to undertake repair and overhaul of jet engines of foreign airlines also. In 2004, the JEOC was first granted the FAA repair station certification.

The ISO 9001:2000 certified JEOC has been operating under the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) since its inception in 1991 and has till date refurbished around 730 JT8D and V2500 engines installed on B737 and A320 aircraft.

The FAA certification is mandatory to undertake engine refurbishment jobs of foreign airlines and the granting of the same to Indian has put the airline's facility at par with international engine repair agencies. The JEOC has since refurbished a number of engines installed on the leased A320 aircraft in Indian's fleet.

Spread over 140,000 sq feet at IGI Airport here, the JEOC was set up in 1991 by General Electric with a capital outlay of 20 million dollars.
