Farrukhabad, Apr 15: Tongue-lashing the Congress-ruled UPA regime at the Centre, BJP Vice-President and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh today alleged the former's Muslim appeasement policy would drive the nation to a second Partition.

''I am against the appeasement policy, following which the Partition took place in 1947. The Congress is following the steps of its forefathers, which would drive India towards a second Partition,'' Mr Singh cautioned while addressing an election meeting here.

''I leave it to the voters to select one amongst the Muslim appeasement (Congress), nationalism and Hindutva policy (BJP),'' Mr Singh added.

Fulminating the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) in UP, the BJP leader alleged, ''it is painful that Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav was always encouraging crime. Instead of Uttam Pradesh, he has transformed UP into a state where criminals and mafias rule the roost.'' ''BSP is a good option after SP but it can never be the best. BSP would further aggravate the situation in UP. Only BJP is capable of developing the state and we do not believe in making fake vows,'' he claimed.
