CISF takes over Metro security
New Delhi, Apr 15 (UNI) The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) today took charge of security of the Delhi metro rail.
The security of the Metro stations was handed over to the CISF at a special function where the top officials of the CISF were present.
The CISF, which protects sensitive installations like airports and nuclear power plants, will now take over charge of the Metro's security from Delhi Police.
Over 1,600 personnel of the force will be deployed at the 59 stations of the three lines of the Delhi Metro, covering a distance of 65 km.
The entrusting of the Metro security to the CISF comes following reports of possible terrorist threats to the Metro.
