Call spl Assembly session; cauvery agitators tell Govt.

Mysore, Apr 15 (UNI) The Mandya district Cauvery Ritha Hitarakashana Samithi today urged the state government to convene a special Assembly session to discuss the final verdict of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal.

A committee meeting held at Mandya to discuss future course of actions has passed three resolutions. It sought the special session to reject the final award on the floor of the house.

The Samithi also decided to form 'Cauvery Sene' a group which fight for the cause of farmers in the Cauvery basin in the state.

For this, each family would enrole one member to participate in the Cauvery agitation. The enrolment would commence from tomorrow.

The samithi also warned the all the elected representatives including MPs, MLAs and others called them participate in the agitation.

Speaking to the newsmen at Mandya Samithi President G Made Gowda said that they had rejected the state governments' request to withdraw their strike irrespective of government filing a review petition in the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile the dharna and protest continued at Mandya, Maddur, Srirangapatna and Pandavapura.

In Mysore, scores of activists representing Maratha Khastriya Sangha stated a protest in front of Infosys campus today against its mentor N R Narayana Murthy's remarks over Cauvery agitation. The activists were on a 'padayatra' from Talakauvery the birth place of Cauvery, to Raj Bhavan in Bangalore to highlight. The Cauvery Kriya Samithi's dharna continued at K R Circle.
