Bear goes on rampage

Akola, Apr 15 (UNI) In a revengeful action a female-bear went on a rampage following the death of her male partner and killed a young married woman, who was collecting fire wood in the jungle area of Nehru nagar, in bordering Buldana district.

The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Devidas Kamble (35), who went along with her husband to collect firewoods in the jungle.

The female-bear pulled her in jaws near about a kilometre and devoured the flesh. The bones of the deceased were found strewn in the area yesterday, police and eye witness here said today.

As the deceased screamed, the nearby villagers gathered and police rushed to the spot but a berserk female-bear was not in a position to be controlled it even attacked one policeman, who was slightly injured.

However, a policeman fired bullets at the bear and killed it, police said.

The female-bear went violent in the grief of losing her male partner, who fell in the well two days before.

The police have collected the scattered bones and flesh of the deceased and have sent it to the general hospital.
