Wheat arrival in Haryana mandis rising by the day

Chandigarh, Apr 13 (UNI) The arrival of 1.88 lakh MTs wheat in 358 mandis across Haryana has created a record for the current rabi season with the total arrival of the crop at 6.41 lakh MTs so far, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said here today.

He added that the total arrival of wheat in the mandis during last two days was 3.56 lakh MTs, which was more than the 50 per cent of the total arrival so far.

The Deputy Chief Minister said Karnal was leading with the arrival of 1.51 lakh MTs, followed by Kaithal 1.45 lakh MTs, Kurukshetra 75674 MTs, Fatehabad 69,747 MTs, Jind 64,002 MTs, Sirsa 45,990 MTs, Panipat 36,716 MTs, Sonepat 20,053 MTs and Ambala 15,293 MTs.

A sum of Rs 2,195 crore had been sanctioned for the payment of wheat which was being made within two to three days to the farmers, he said.

Mr Mohan said out of the total wheat arrival, 6.03 lakh MTs had been procured by the six Government procuring agencies at the minimum support price of Rs 850 per quintal including a bonus of Rs 100 per quintal. While the traders had purchased 36,993 MTs of wheat.

Of the six government agencies, HAFED had procured 2.14 lakh MTs, Food and Supplies Department had procured 1.73 lakh MTs of wheat, Food Corporation of India 69,291 MTs, Confed 48,497 MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 53,073 MTs and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 44,902 MTs of wheat, he informed.
