Kolkata, Apr 13 (UNI) Shooting down speculations, Videocon Chairman Venugopal Dhoot today ruled out shifting of proposed semi-conductor project to Hyderabad from Kolkata while making fresh investment proposals in West Bengal.

"I received a proposal from the Andhra Pradesh Government for setting up the semi-conductor project in Hyderabad. But I find the offers in West Bengal more attractive for setting up the complex here," he told reporters after a meeting with Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.

He said the project would come up near Kolkata on 100 acres of land.

Besides reaffirming his commitment to the Rs. 1,000 crore project, Mr Dhoot also made fresh investment proposals for two special economic zones--one for biotech at Dubgram in Jalpaiguri district and the other for Information Technology at Guptamanipur near Kharagpur in East Midnapore district.

He said an IT tower, being set up at Salt Lake near Kolkata would provide employment opportunity for about 30,000 people while the LCD TV manufacturing factory at Taratala would start production in October this year.
