ULFA rebel killed in encounter

Guwahati, Apr 13 (UNI) A ULFA rebel was killed and his accomplice arrested in an encounter with the troops at Betonigaon under Bordumsa police station in Asom's Tinsukia district this evening.

The army recovered a 9 mm pistol and some incriminating documents from the possession of the slain militant. The incident occurred near the inter-state boundary with Arunachal Pradesh.

Army after some successful operation against the ULFA ultras in Upper Asom, mounted vigil along the inter-state boundary with the Arunachal Pradesh to check movements of the rebels during 'Rongali Bihu,' the spring festival of the state.
