TRS wants pictorial warning on beedi packets out
Hyderabad, Apr 13 (UNI)TRS Chief K Chandrasekhara Rao today asked the Centre to withdraw its decision for pictorial warnings on beedi packets from June one.
Talking to newsmen here, he suggested the convening of an all-party meeting to discuss the issue and come out with an alternative.
The pictorial warning of skull and bones would adversely affect the livelihood of beedi workers and the industry, he said and added that his party would hold dharnas before the offices of Revenue Divisional Officers in five Telangana districts on April 16.
On April 19, his party would organise rasta roko in all the Telangana districts to express solidarity with the beedi workers.
A bandh would be organised in Karimnagar, Medak and Nizamabad Districts where majority of beedi workers live.
He declared that he would also take up the seriousness of the issue with the Prime Minister and the Union Minister for Health through his party MPs and MLAs.
