Three children burnt to death in W Bengal

Barasat, Apr 13 (UNI) Three children, aged between 8 and 13, were burnt to death in a fire last night at Chakpachuria village under Rajarhat police station in North 24 Parganas, police today said.

Fire broke out in the thatched house of labourer Jaideb Sardar during a storm last night. while half-burnt Jaidev had managed to rescue his two daughters but failed to evacuate another girl, whose body was recovered today.

Jaideb(40) and her two daughters- Puja and Suparna, who sustained severe burnt injuries, were admitted to R G Kar Medical College and Hospital where both the children succumbed to their injuries.

Jaideb's wife, however, escaped unhurt.

During the clearing of debris this afternoon, the charred body of the 13-year-old-girl Jyotsna, who was said to be the daughter of Jaideb's sister-in-law, was recovered.

Police said the fire may have broken out from a kerosene lamp to the mosquito net where the children were sleeping.
