Three Children burnt to death

Barasat, Apr 13 (UNI) Three children, aged between 8 and 13, were burnt to death in a fire last night at Chakpachuria village home under Rajarhat police station in North 24 Parganas, police said.

Fire broke out in the thatched house of labourer Jaideb Sardar during a storm last night. while half-burnt Jaidev had managed to rescue his two daughters but failed to evacuate another girl, whose body was recovered today.

Jaideb(40) and her two daughters- Puja and Suparna, who sustained sever burnt injuries, were admitted to R G Kar Medical College and Hospital where both the children succumbed to their injuries.

Jaideb's wife, however, escaped unhurt.

During clearing of debris this afternoon, the charred body of the 13-year-old-girl Jyotsna, who was said to be the daughter of Jaideb's sister-in-law, was recovered.

Police said the fire may have broken out from a kerosene lamp to the mosquito net where the children were sleeping.
