Supriya Sule's fate to be decided on April 27

Mumbai, Apr 13 (UNI) The Bombay High Court will deliver its verdict on April 27 on a primary objection filed Supriya Sule, on a petition challenging her election to the Rajya Sabha (RS).

A single judge bench of Justice R S Mohite will deliver verdict on that date.

The daughter of Maratha strongman and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Ms Sule was elected unopposed to the Upper House of Parliament on July 19 last year.

A Mumbai resident has challenged Supriya's election on the ground that she was possessing dual citizenship and thereby she had become ineligible for contesting RS elections.

Supriya has mentioned that she owns property in Singapore, which indicated that she was having citizenship of the South Asian country also.

Supriya has taken primary objection to the petition that, only contesting candidates or members of the electorate college can file an election petitions and the petitioner in the present case was neither.

Advocate D S Sakhalkar, on behalf of the petitioner, has contended that, the Upper House of the Parliament was House of States and members of the House represent States, not any particular constituency.
