Speaker to consider revoking suspension of 4 AIADMK members
Chennai, Apr 13 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker R Avudaiappan today said he would consider revoking the suspension of four AIADMK members for the rest of the session, only if they expressed regret for their acts in the House.
The four members V P Kalairajan and former Ministers Pollachi V Jayaraman, Ce Ve Shanmugam and R Viswanathan, were suspended for the rest of the session for their ''unruly'' behaviour in the House on April five.
After Mr M Kannappan (MDMK) and Mr K A Sengottayan (AIADMK) pleaded that the Chair reconsider the order of suspension and allow the members to take part in the proceedings, the Speaker said while one member showed the footwear, others rushed down from the back rows. They should express regret for their unruly acts, he said.
Mr Sengottaiyan said the Speaker should not insist on ''apology'' from the members and revoke the suspension as there were instances of members getting suspended for the rest of the session and later allowed to take part in the proceedings in the past.
