ND: SC permits MLA Balli to attend Budget Session

New Delhi, Apr 13: The Supreme Court today permitted Delhi BJP MLA Harsharan Singh Balli, undergoing three months imprisonment for contempt of court by breaking seals of unauthorised commercial establishments in the capital, to attend the ongoing Budget Session of the Delhi Assembly on a specific date communicated by him to jail authorities.

The order was passed by a Bench headed by Justice Arijit Pasayat on a written request received from the Speaker of the Assembly by the registry of the court to this effect.

The court said that the jail authorities will take Balli to the Delhi Assembly on the day he is to participate in the proceedings of the House and bring him back to the prison after the session is over.
