Rat killing poison kills two members of a family, five ill

Malda, Apr 13 (UNI) Two members of a family were killed and five others fell ill after they accidentally consumed poison in hot brew at Omerpur village under Gajole police station in the district today.

Police said while father Nasiruddin Shaikh (55) and his eight-year-old daughter Tashleem Khatun died at home, five other members of the family were rushed to Malda government hospital in critical condition. The condition of two of the members was critical.

Khatun was asked to make morning tea and she did it. But she poured rat killing poison instead of tea, a preliminary investigation revealed.

Police said Khatun was first to die followed by her father.
