Rabri demands rehabilitation policy

Patna, Apr 13 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly Rabri Devi today urged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to hammer out a clear and objective policy on land acquisition and rehabilitation of affected people.

Talking to mediapersons here, Ms Rabri Devi emphasised on arriving at a consensus on the issue in consultation with all political parties since a recent statement by Mr Nitish Kumar created confusion among the people as the Central laws on land acquisition did not leave enough room for the state government to act on its own.

Neither in the land acquisition laws nor in the rules on the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), specific dispensation pertaining to rehabilitation of evicted people, had been provided she noted and suggested that the issue should be discussed in the Assembly too.

The Opposition leader urged the state government to extend necessary cooperation in executing ongoing railway projects which were awarded to Bihar at the behest of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad.
