Police use cane to disperse agitated mob

Jamshedpur, Apr 12 (UNI) Police tonight resorted to lathi charge to disperse the agitated mob of minority community, who assembled at Sakchi mosque premises here over a religious dispute on rituals.

Police said more than two thousand people of Devbandi and Barlevi Maslak groups belonging to Sunni sect assembled to discuss to sink differeces on rituals after the Namaz.

Tension was mounting between the two groups for the last couple of days and the situation went out of control when the two groups met at the mosque premises to discuss the issue.

As the two groups failed to reach any consensus they attacked each other amidst scuffle. Police had to use lathi to take control over the situation.

Though tension prevailed in the area but situation was under control, police said.

Security was tightened in and around the area following the incident and senior police and administrative officials were monitoring the situation.
