No move to import natural rubber at reduced duty; Govt

New Delhi, Apr 13 (UNI) The Government today denied that it has plans to allow the import of natural rubber from Thailand at a reduced import duty.

Refuting reports that the Government is to permit the import of natural rubber from Thailand, a Commerce Ministry release said, ''there is no such move by the Union Government.'' It, however, said that during the India-Thailand trade negotiation meeting from April 3 to 5, as well as India-Thailand Ministerial meeting on April 11, 2007, the Thai Government requested for market access for natural rubber.

''The Indian side while taking note of the request, made no commitment, what so ever for reduction of tariff on natural rubber,'' an official release said here.
