NMDC should go for JVs, acquisitions : Pandey

Hyderabad, Apr 13 (UNI) The National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (NMDC) should look into the possibilities of expanding further through joint ventures (JVs), acquisitions and mergers, Government of India Secretary (Steel) R S Pandey opined today.

According to a release, Mr Panday, who reviewed the activities of the NMDC here, said the NMDC's foray into sponge iron plants, pig iron plants, integrated steel plant with an outlay of Rs 9,000 crore would help the company to grow much faster.

On NMDC's project for acquiring coal mines abroad, Mr Pandey said the project would help the NMDC with uninterrupted coal supplies for its own upcoming iron and steel plants, the release added.
