Members allege irregularities in Akshara Dasoha scheme at Iskcon
Bangalore, Apr 13 (UNI) Karnataka Assembly Speaker Krishna today withheld his consent to an adjournment motion notice sought to be tabled by J C Madhuswamy (Janata Dal U) and others with regard to alleged financial irregularities in implementing state government sponsored mid-day meal scheme by International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in the city.
Raising the issue, Mr Madhuswamy and others alleged that the ISKCON had been depicting India in a poor light at the international level with regard to highlighting poverty by showing pictures of children being fed and raising foreign funds. His views were endorsed by CPI-M leader G V Srirama Reddy and Independent member Jayaprakash Hegde and others. Mr Hegde said the ISKCON had indulged in real estate business out of the proceeds and demanded an inquiry into the functioning of the institution.
The Speaker withheld his consent to the preliminary submission and announced that he would provide time for a discussion under different rule.
