Mah govt announces probe into DGP's properties

Mumbai, Apr 13 (UNI) The Maharashtra Government today decided to institute a probe by a three-member team into the properties of Director General of Police (DGP) Dr P S Pasricha, against whom a television news channel conducted a sting operation.

Making a statement in the Legislative Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil said the three member inquiry team will comprise Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (General Administration) and Director General of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Mr Patil said the comittee has been directed to submit its inquiry report as soon as possible.

He also gave details of the police officer's properties purchased since 1975 in different parts of the state, which includes the two penthouses in Mumbai brought at the cost of Rs 50 lakh each.

Opposition members Devendra Phadanvis and Eknath Khadse (BJP) wanted the Government to institute a judicial probe into the matter.

Mr Patil said the details of the properties owned by Dr Pasricha had come to light in a different form and hence action would be taken as per the findings of the report.

Mr Patil said Dr Pasricha had informed him that he had no links with the two builders mentioned in the Television report.
