Kiran bedi, Khushwant Singh, 18 other receive Punjabi Bhushan Award

New Delhi, Apr 13 (UNI) Ace police officer Kiran Bedi, athlete Milkha Singh and writer Gopi Chand Narang were among 20 people conferred the first-ever 'Punjabi Bhushan Award'.

The function, organised by the Punjabi Kala Sangam last evening, also saw TV commentator Jasdev Singh, renowned heart surgeon Dr Naresh Trehan, singer Pushpa Hans, litterateur Kartar Singh Duggal and educator Vinay Pasricha were others who received the awards from ICCR President Dr Karan Singh.

Relatives of litterateur Khushwant Singh, film producer B R Chopra, actor Pran and CMD of MH One TV Network Mahinder Bathla received the awards of their behalf, while General Manager of Bharti Enterprises Sunil 'Bharti' Mittal was personally present to receive his award.

Others recepients of the award included management guru Shiv Khera, Kanwar Harbhajan Singh of International Institute of Gurmat Studies, USA, former table tennis champion Indu Puri, Bishop of Church of North India Rt Rev Karam Masih, music director Kesar Singh Narula, fashion designer Harmeet Bajaj and singer Ashok Masti.
