Jaya criticises DMK for not circulating draft review petition
Chennai, Apr 13 (UNI) AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today criticised the DMK government for not sending the copy of the draft review petition on the Cauvery issue to be discussed at the all party meeting to be convened by the government on April 15, to her party.
In a statement here, she said the DMK government had invited the AIADMK to take part in the meeting, scheduled to be held at 1000 hrs on April 15, but so far they had not sent the copy of the draft review petition to be filed before the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal against its final order.
It was not clear whether the petition was prepared keeping in mind, the interest of the state or drafted to help Karnataka, she said, adding enquiries revealed that till the evening of April 12, the draft petition had not reached the Public Works department.
It is clear that the government, would hereafter, take copies and send them to the opposition parties but how could Chief Minister M Karunanidhi expect the parties to go through the draft petition and express their views in the all party meeting in a short span of time, she asked.
Noting it was 67 days since the tribunal gave its final award, she wondered why it took so many days for the government to prepare the draft petition and why the Chief Minister was keeping it as a closely guarded secret.
