HC directs CBI to probe corruption in SUPPLYCO
Kochi, Apr 13 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today directed the CBI to investigate the offences committed in the Kerala Civil Supplies Corporation (SUPPLYCO) during 1995 to 2005.
A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice K S Radhakrishnan and Justice M N Krishnan passed this interim order while hearing a public interest petition filed by one Gokul Prasad of Palakkad.
The petitioner submitted that a retired judge was appointed to inquire into corruption in the Civil Supplies Corporation and his report dated September 30, 2006, had revealed large-scale irregularities and corruption in the procurement of various commodities during 1995-2005.
Counsel for the CBI had earlier submitted that the agency did not have sufficient number of persons to investigate the matter.
Considering the submission, the court directed the Centre to provide sufficient number of personnel to the CBI to investigate the matter.
