Fresh summons to Kanchi seer in 'tampering of mutt account' case

Kancheepuram, Apr 13 (UNI) A local court today issued summons to Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi and two others to appear before it on May four in connection with the 'Tampering of Sankara Mutt Account Case.' Judicial Magistrate I Uttamaraj ordered Jayendra Saraswati, Mutt Manager Sundaresa Iyer and Accountant Kaladi Vishwanathan to be present before it on May four to receive the copies of the 61-page chargesheet.

The case relates to payment of Rs 55 lakh to goons for the elimination of Kancheepuram Varadaraja Perumal Koil Manager Sankararaman who was murdered on September three, 2004.

Jayendra Saraswati and his deputy Vijayendra Saraswati are the prime accused in the murder case.

Following a complaint, police registered cases under IPC 463,465, 467,474,477 (A),204 and arrested Kaladi Vishwanathan in 2005.

Police then filed a 61-page chargesheet before the JMM I citing 31 witnesses.

Though the court issued summons thrice in the case, the trio failed to appear before it to receive the copies of the chargesheet.Hence, JM I issued the present summons.

A local court in Puducherry is trying the murder case.
