K'taka: 5 people, including 2 pedestrians, killed

Bangalore, Apr 13: Five people, including three pedestrians, were killed and five others injured, in two different road mishaps that took place in Karnataka last night.

Three pedestrians were killed on the spot and five others were injured when a empty mining lorry ran over them near Kadanakop on Hubli-Karwar Highway in Dharwad District.

Police said today that the lorry which was coming to the City from Karwar ran over the victims while they were crossing the road after having tea at a roadside hotel.

All the injured were admitted to Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS).

Tension prevailed for some time, following the incident, as villagers pelted stones on the lorry and staged rasta roko for over an hour.

According to a Davanagere report two people were killed on the spot when their two wheeler rammed into a parked truck near Hebbal about 20 km from here.

Police said that the victims were returning to Davanagere from Chitradurga when the mishap occurred on the National Highway No 4.
