First meeting of New MCD House convened on Apr 23

New Delhi, Apr 13 (UNI) The first meeting of the newly-constituted Municipal Corporation of Delhi will be convened on April 23.

The Lt Governor of Delhi has accorded permission to convene the Meeting. He has also nominated Mr Farhad Suri, outgoing Mayor and Municipal Councillor, to preside over the meeting for the election of the Mayor. He will be administered oath by Mr K K Jindal, Dy Commissioner (North District).

The other Councillors will be administered oath/affirmation by the presiding officer.

As per the DMC Act, the election to the post of Mayor will be held in the first meeting of the newly constituted MCD.

The Mayor so elected will conduct the election of the Deputy Mayor and six members to the Standing Committee, four members to the Education Committee, two members to Delhi Development Authority and four members to DDA Advisory Council.

The municipal Secretary Office today issued notice for calling nominations for the above posts. The Municipal Secretary Office will remain open tomorrow from 1100 Hours to 1730 hours to receive nominations to these posts.

The last date of receiving nominations for the post of the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor, six members to the Standing Committee, four members to the Education Committee, two members to Delhi Development Authority and four members to the DDA Advisory Council has been fixed on April 17.

Similarly, the last date of receiving nominations for the Chairmen and Deputy Chairmen of Ward Committees and also one member to Standing Committee from each Zone has been fixed as April 18.

Election to these posts will be held on April 24 for six zones and on April 25 for the remaining six zones.

Last date for receiving nominations to the posts of Chairmen and Deputy Chairmen of the Standing Committee, Education Committee and Rural Areas Committee has been fixed as April 30. Elections of the Chairmen and Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee and Education Committee will be held on May 4. The date of election to the post of Chairmen and Deputy Chairman of Rural Areas Committee will be announced shortly.
