CPI to forcibly occupy land encroached by rich
Hyderabad, Apr 13 (UNI) Vexed over the functioning of 'inefficient and corrupt'' Congress Government in Andhra Pradesh, its poll ally the Communist Party of India today announced a series of stirs in support of land for the poor and demanded a white paper on all lands, including those assigned lands taken back from affluent people.
Though the Rajasekhara Reddy Government's intention of forming the Koneru Ranga Rao Committee was good, land mafias colluding with ruling Congressmen were grabbing lands assigned to the poor and the government 'poramboke' lands, CPI state secretary K Narayanan alleged at a press conference here today.
With no scope for the poor to get back the lands assigned to them, the CPI would on its own identify all such lands that had fallen into the hands of 'influential' people and plant 'Red flags' on it for distribution to the poor.
Expressing concern over the hailstorm causing extensive damage to crops and livestock, he demanded that the Government provide adequate compensation to the affected people.
Vehemently opposing the Centre's decision to make the printing of 'bone and skull' logo mandatory on beedi packets from June this year, the CPI leader said the Union Government should first provide alternative employment to lakhs of beedi workers.
The party-led All India Trade Union Congress would prepare the beedi workers for protracted struggle to force the UPA government to scrap the controversial government order.
