Congress invites applications for Hamirpur Lok Sabha polls

Shimla, Apr 13 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) today invited applications from candidates willing to contest Lok Sabha bypolls from the Hamirpur constituency of the state.

Candidates willing to contest elections could apply on or before April 16 along with a sum of Rs 10,000 as application fee, HPCC President Viplove Thakur said in a release here.

The elections to the Hamirpur constituency were being held after the Supreme Court upheld the Lok Sabha Speaker Somanth Chatterjee's decision to expel 11 MPs following their involvement in the cash for query scam in a sting operation by a private TV channel a few months ago.
