Central funds to Maharashtra, AP, HP, Gujarat for SGSY

New Delhi, Apr 13 (UNI) The Centre has granted funds to Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat under the Swaranjayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojna for providing self-employment to poor people in rural areas.

The Ministry of Rural Development has released Rs.1.47 crore as second instalment of the Central share under SGSY during the year 2006-07 to four districts of Maharashtra towards Restoration of cut on account of Excess outstanding balance on April 1, 2006. Of the amount Gadchiroli got Rs 4.22 lakh, Jalgaon Rs 1.54 lakh, Nandurbar Rs 121.18 lakh and Nashik Rs 20.145 lakh.

The ministry has also released Rs 1.10 crore to three districts of Andhra Pradesh, namely Cuddapah (Rs.0.04 lakh), Karimnagar (Rs.20.71 lakh) and Visakhapatnam (Rs.89.12 lakh) towards Restoration of cut on account of excess outstanding balance of the year 2006-07 under SGSY.

The ministry has also given grant-in-aid of Rs. 32.54 lakh to six districts of Himachal Pradesh. Bilaspur has been given Rs 5.89 lakh, Kangra Rs0.78 lakh, Lahaul and Spiti Rs 4.69 lakh, Shimla Rs 15.68 lakh, Solan Rs 1.62 lakh and Una Rs 3.88lakh.

The Navarsari district of Gujarat also received Rs 2.78 lakh as grant in aid towards restoration of cut on account of excess outstanding balance of the last year.

The amount should be utilized on the Programme as per approved guidelines of SGSY. The funding pattern will be 75:25 by the Centre and the State.

Under SGSY, assistance is given to the poor family living below the poverty line for taking up self-employment. It actively promotes group approach by organising the rural poor into Self-Help Groups.
