CBI files status report on Quattrocchi's extradition
New Delhi, Apr 13 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation today filed a status report in a city court, saying extradition proceedings against Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi, accused in the Bofors kickback case, will be shortly initiated in an Argentine court.
CBI informed Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Seema Maini that as there was no extradition treaty with Argentina, Quattrocchi's custody would have to be through the court.
Though Quattrocchi was opposing the CBI's move, the extradition proceedings were expected to start within the next fortnight, it was stated.
The judge asked the investigating agency to file a fresh status report by June 4.
