Call money opens higher at 5.25-6.25 pc

Mumbai, Apr 13: Call money rates opened higher at 5.25-6.25 per cent today than their previous closing level of 1.75-2.25 per cent, dealers said.

Despite huge cash surplus, few banks faced last minute borrowing requirements to meet their reserve requirement on the last day of reporting cycle.

The inter-bank rates are expected to remain low amidst ample liquidity in the market.
