BMC demolishes 'illegal construction' by Delhi Darbar
Mumbai, Apr 13 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials, along with Mumbai Police, brought down an illegal construction of Mumbai's popular restaurant 'Delhi Darbar' which had spilled over to the adjoining premises.
Owned by city's ''biryani tycoon'' Jafer Bahi Mansoori, the fully air-conditioned eating joint is a hot-spot for the connoisseur of non-vegetarian food.
According to Ramesh Paware, assistant municipal commissioner of D ward under whose jurisdiction the restuarant falls, the BMC resorted to this action following a complaint filed by a local resident, Moin Akhter Qureshi, indicating illegal construction in the 1200 sq feet restaurant.
The BMC issued a notice to the restaurant to which it had appealed but later had to vacate for the demolition to take place.
A team of 50 BMC officials, and 25 sleuths from the Mumbai police carried out the demolition exercise, Mr Pawar said.
