BJP demands Mulayam's name in FIR in Muazaffarnagar

Lucknow, Apr 13 (UNI) Alleging discrimination, the Bharatiya Janata Party today demanded Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav should be named in the FIR lodged at Khatauli police station in Muzaffarnagar regarding an anonymous CD containing ''inflammatory material.'' ''The FIR lodged by a police officer has clearly stated that the contents of the CD are aimed at to unite Muslims in the favour of the ruling SP in Uttar Pradesh assembly polls,''BJP vice president and senior party leader Yashwant Sinha told reporters here.

If the BJP President Rajnath Singh and UP leader Lalji Tandon could be named in the FIR for release of the CD which was disowned by the party, why Mr Yadav should be spared when there was enough proof that the anonymous CD was released by the SP, he contended.

The CD in question was exhibited during the second phase poll campaign and the language of FIR was sufficient to warrant inclusion of Mr Yadav's name, Mr Sinha said. The FIR was lodged on the direction of Election Officer and the Election Commission (EC) should intervene into this, he added.

The former union minister was equally vocal about the release of a ''Fatwa'' on the eve on second phase of polling in the state by the Deoband seminary, saying it had mentioned the name of Gujarat CM Narendra Modi and the BJP in the bad light, and urged Muslims to vote in the favour of Congress. ''BJP alleges that the ''Fatwa'' was handiwork of Deoband and the Congress party, and its contents clearly violated of election code of conduct,'' he said demanding legal action against both.

He said the BJP was accused of spreading communalism but what the SP and Congress were doing in order to garner Muslim votes was just ''unimaginable and condemnable.'' ''Never before such 'minority communalism' was witnessed as the SP and Congress are indulging in,'' he claimed.
