All elected reps asked to join Cauvery agitation

Mysore, Apr 13 (UNI) The Cauvery Hitarakshana Samithi today asked all the elected representatives to participate in the agitation against the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal, which will take shape of non-cooperation struggle from April 21.

Samithi President G Made Gowda, addressing a public awareness meeting at various places in Mandya district, appealed to all the Mandya district Ministers, MLAs, MPs and other elected representatives to join the agitation and warned them that otherwise the Samithi would impose an entry ban on them to Mandya district.

Former Minister M S Athmananda, speaking on the occasion, said the Samithi would lay siege to the Central Government offices on April 21 and urged the Union Government to take necessary steps not to notify the award.

Meanwhile, protests, dharnas and roadblocks continued in the basin regions. In Mandya, Dodda Banaswadi Chamalapura village Milk Producers Union members staged a dharna at Silver Jubilee park.

Later, the agitators blocked the Mysore-Bangalore State expressway for some time.

In Mysore, former Minister and irrigation expert H N Nanje Gowda participated in a dharna at K R Circle under the banner of Cauvery Kriya Samithi, Mysore district. The signature campaign against the verdict continued in the district.
