8 people including R S Sharma shorlisted for ONGC's CMD
New Delhi, Apr 13 (UNI) Eight people have been shortlisted for the post of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation's CMD by the search committee for the final round, including the acting CMD R S Sharma, a company official has said.
The committee is understood to have shortlisted the candidates, including former Joint Secretary (Exploration) in Petroleum Ministry, Najeeb Jung.
Other major contenders include ONGC Managing Director Videsh Ltd R S Butola and ONGC's acting CMD R S Sharma who had been selected by PESB on August 30, 2006 for the top job in the petroleum and gas major but the government, in a surprise move, scrapped the choice.
Besides, ONGC Director (Exploration) D K Pandey, Director (Onshore) A K Hazarika, Director (HR) A K Balyan and Director (Technical Services) U N Bose are in the fray along with Gas Authority of India Ltd Director M R Inglekar.
The search committee, comprising six members, is headed by the Public Sector Enterprises Board (PSEB) Chairman N K Sinha.
Its members are Petroleum Secretary M S Srinivasan, IIM (Ahmedabad) Director Prof Bakul H Dholakia, Petroleum Former Secretary Vijay Kelkar and two members of the PSEB.
A public notice was issued last month inviting applications for the post.
