144 Cr PC promulgated at Sakchi
Jamshedpur, Apr 13 (UNI) Prohibitory order was promulgated today near the Aambagan mosque area at Sakchi here following last night's clashes between two factions of the minority community.
Dhalbhum sub-divisional officer R K Sharma told UNI that the prohibitory order 144 Cr PC would continue till normalcy prevailed in the area.
The administration also barred two groups to offer Friday's Namaaz in the mosque. He said security had been beefed up in and around the area to prevent any untoward incident.
Mr Sharma said the situation was peaceful today. However, the administration was keeping strict vigil and monitoring the situation closely.
The two groups of the Shia sect--Devbandi Maslak and Barelvi Maslak-- yesterday reportedly involved in a scuffle on the mosque premises over a religious dispute.
The senior police officials, including the East Singhbhum Superintendent of Police Pankaj Darad, had to rush to the spot and order lathicharge to disperse the huge gathering outside the mosque.
The situatiom came under control till late in the night and the administration clamped prohibitory orders this morning.
