Two convicted under Narcotic Act

Patna, Apr 12 (UNI) A local court here today awarded ten years of jail each to two persons for possessing contraband hemp.

Judge B K Srivastav found Manoj Rai and Birendra Kumar guilty under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS)act.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs one lakh each on both the convicts. In default to pay the fine the convicts would have to undergo further rigorous imprisonment of one year each.

According to the charges police had recovered 35.5 kg of contraband hemp from the possession of the convicts in Didarganj police station area of Patna on January 4, 2003.
