Rs 2 cr royalty theft reported
Betul, MP, Apr 12 (UNI) A Haryana-based private company, engaged in road construction in Betul district, has been charged with carrying out illegal mining and committing a royalty theft of nearly Rs two crore, official sources said.
The company has been engaged in the construction of 68 km-long from Betul district to Paratwada in Amrawati district of Maharashtra since October 2004.
The road construction was not completed despite two years time provided by the Madhya Pradesh Government. Besides, it caused a loss of crores of rupees to the government due to illegal mining.
District Mines Officer A G Shinde said a fine of Rs 1.99 crore was proposed against the company in connection with 10 illegal mining cases registered against it.
