NASSCOM starts hunt for new chief
Bangalore, Apr 12 (UNI) NASSCOM, the premier body for IT and ITeS companies, today announced that it had commenced the hunt for a successor to its President Kiran Karnik.
NASSCOM, in a statement here, said Forn Ferry, a professional agency, had been engaged to search for the new President. The search had been initiated under the overall leadership of former NASSCOM Chairman Harish Mehta with the involvement of Mr Karnik and other senior industry leaders.
As part of the mission to institutionalise NASSCOM, through appropriate structures, systems and processes, well-defined HR policies had been laid down, including retirement age of 60, which had been the trigger for the start of the succession process, the it said.
Mr Karnik would continue as NASSCOM President till a smooth transition to a new incumbent and discussions were on regarding his continuing involvement in an advisory capacity, it added.
Maintaining a strong growth, the IT sector had witnessed a ten-fold increase over the last decade and had emerged the top exporter of the country. It was well on track to achieve the target of 60 billion dollars exports in 2010.
