Modi declares employment opportunities for 1 lakh women
Vadodara, April 12 (UNI) Chief Minister Narendra Modi today declared employment opportunities for one lakh poor women under a new project and announced Rs 51,000 and Rs 21,000 prizes for anganwadi workers.
Mr Modi was addressing the eighth women general conference organised as part of women welfare drive launched by the State government at Sinore-Segawa village in Vadodara district.
Expressing concern about the skewed sex ratio of girl child in the State, Mr Modi warned doctors against practicing female foeticide. He exhorted people of Gujarat to support 'Save Girl Child' campaign.
Health Minister Ashok Bhatt, who spoke at the function, said the State government has tied up with 750 private hospitals under Chiranjivi Yojana, to ensure safe delivery of pregnant mothers in the State.
That apart, more than 27,000 girls have been covered under Vidhyalakshmi bonds which will guarantee them free education till seventh standard, Mr Bhatt added.
