Mob kills youth under mistaken identity
Akola, Apr 12 (UNI) A 24-year-old youth, Mangal Ajabrao Janjal, was killed under a mistaken identity, as people in Kavar Nagar area of the city thought him to be a thief.
Some women in the area chased the deceased and manhandled him.
The deceased jumped from a building in the service line, while the residents gathered and beat him with iron pipe and wooden sticks, police said.
He was taken to a General hospital and later shifted to a private clinic, where he succumbed to his injuries yesterday, police said.
Sanjay Gaud Ajay Gaud and Sunil Gaud have been arrested on charge of murder, police reported.
After the news reached the dalit locality, the deceased's supporters numbering 10 to 15 came on the road, obstructed the traffic on National Highway no 6, near here, yesterday morning and ransacked the houses in the vicinity. They set ablaze a two wheeler and one autorickshaw was overturned, police said.
Timely intervention by the police averted any major incident.
Offences under sections 143, 147, 148, 149, 324, 435, 427 of IPC and 4 (25) of arms act have been registered against the eight persons.
