Srinagar, Apr 12 (UNI) Life came to halt in the historic Lal Chowk, when Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and police personnel sealed the entire area.

All the exit points were sealed from Lal Chowk to Amira Kadal and those present in the otherwise very busy area were directed to stand in queues.

Nobody, including women and children, was being allowed to leave the sealed area.

The shopkeepers too had to join the pedestrains and customers to prove their identity that they were not militants.

However, after about 15 minutes people were allowed to move out after their identity cards were properly checked by the security personnel.

"It has become a daily routine for us, affecting our business badly," said shopkeepers who are proving their identity to security forces.

They said customers are hestitating to enter the area as nobody knows when the security forces will conduct searches.

Traffic was also diverted to other routes as no vehicle was allowed to ply via Lal Chowk.

The searches in the area was conducted 24 hours after a grenade blast near general bus stand at Batmaloo in which one person was killed and nine others were injured.
