Leadership quality based on learning, experience: Goenka

Kolkata, Apr 12 (UNI) Noted industrialist and RPG Enterprises vice chairman Sanjib Goenka today described the leadership quality as nothing but one's quality to motivate and inspire people to make one believe that all challenges could be met by proper learning and experience.

Speaking at the annual session of the Young Indian (YI) Kolkata Chapter, Mr Goenka felt that leadership quality in the corporate sector also teaches certain values and conviction which was absolutely necessary for achieving real success in life.

''Leaders are not born but the leadership quality comes through proper learning and experience which can be gained on the way to life,'' he said.

Also speaking on the occasion, YI national Chairman Narayan Sethuramon, describing India in the 21st century as a predominantly young nation, said people in the age group of 15-35 years constituted one third of the country's population and the youth power was manifesting itself in various fields of human activities.

Referring to the nationwide activities of YI, with its membership crossing the 8000 mark by March this year, Mr Sethuramon said in order to further widen their activities they had launched the corporate sector of YI at the Bangalore campus of Infosys and had signed an MoU with Dr Reddy's Foundation for creating employment opportunities for the people of the backward classes.

Among others, CII Eastern Regional Chairman Biswadeep Gupta, Mr Sumit Dabriwala, Managing Director, Metropolitan Group Limited and Mr M K Singh, Regional Passport Officer, addressed the YI talent at the gathering.
