IAS officer gets two year imprisonment in graft case
Bhopal, Apr 12 (UNI) A special court has sentenced IAS officer Ramesh Thete to two years' imprisonment in a bribery case, under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and fined him Rs 10,000.
Mr Thete later obtained bail on a bond of Rs 5,000. He said he would appeal in a higher court against the verdict.
Special Judge S K Raghuvanshi's court delivered the verdict today. Earlier, it had reserved its judgement after conculding of arguments in the case on April 10.
Mr Thete was posted as Director, Employment and Training, in Jabalpur when was caught red handed by the Lokayukta Police while accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh from Betul ITI Principal N R Borle.
He was suspended by the state government one year back.
