Hailstorms damage mango production in N-24-Parganas

Barrackpore, Apr 12 (UNI) Major parts of North 24 district this evening experienced hailstorms with thunder shower for almost two hours bringing down the temperature to 20 degrees Celsius.

The hailstorms that lashed Bongaon sub-division in the afternoon for about 20 minutes damaged mangoes, flowers and other rabi crops.

Official sources said the extent of damage of crops and other agricultural production would be ascertained in due course of time.

District headquarters Barasat and industrial sub-division Barrackpore also experienced hailstorms.

This was the second time in this season, the district experienced hailstorms.
