Ahmedabad, Apr 12 (UNI) A Mumbai-based E-Leaving company GurukulOnline Learning Solutions today launched its ''jobs&career centre'' here.

Company CEO Shailesh Mehta, in a statement, said after the company was launched in 2001, GLS has gathered much experience in E-leaving. He also said that by launching the course in Ahmedabad, the company would provide job-oriented training in the retail, banking and BPO sectors, among others.

Mehta clarified that GLS was not into disseminating university programmes. ''Our only aim is to provide job-oriented skills to the masses. What is the use if you have a university degree and yet are jobless?'' he asked.

Talent and proper training are scarce. If India does not get suitable talent then it cannot be globally competitive ''said Mehta . ''Something needs to be done very fast. We are trying to use the latest technology to provide quality training,'' added Mehta GLS provides both online and offline courses.

Mehta informed that his company will launch a new business model, Panacea, where the candidates will be assessed on international standards and screened. They will be issued conditional offer letters subsequently by the clients and finally undergo industry specific training and corporate finishing programmes offered by GurukulOnline on a self-support basis.

Among the courses offered are English speaking, French and German, conflict management, negotiation skills, anti-hacking, event management, E security course, retail course and management programmes, spread out over 25-100 hours of live interface and visual classrooms. GLS also plans to offer courses on life and non-life insurance after it receives Insurance Regulatory Development Authority (IRDA) accreditation.

India has over five crore unemployed graduates and the figure is growing yet there is an acute shortage of manpower across industries. The situation is so desperate that recently, MBAs, engineers and postgraduates made up nearly 40 per cent of the five lakh applicants for the meagrely salaried police constable jobs, informed Mehta.

GLS is also plans a tie-up with Quiny, the parent of SOTC and SITA for training back-end jobs for travels and tours jobs.
