Gujarat minister's kin cremated

Junagadh, Apr 12 (UNI) Ashvin Chagganbhai Bhabadia, son-in-law of Gujarat Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Cow-breeding, who succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital after being attacked over an altercation, was cremated at his native town Una, 180 km from here, today.

The 28-year-old Bhabadia succumbed to his injuries last night at Sterling Hospital in Ahmedabad.

He sustained injuries when he was allegedly attacked by Usman Ghulabmia, his friends Yaqub Ghulabmia and Ajay Bhagwanji, on the night of March 24 after having a fight at Barad college in Naliya-Mandvi village earlier in the day, where the deceased had gone to see his friend, who was appearing for an exam.

The trio attacked Ashvin with swords and lathis, severely injuring him. Sunilbhai, his friend, who was along with Ashvin also sustained minor injuries. He rushed Ashvin to a local hospital in Una and then to a hospital in Rajkot and finally to Sterling Hospital in Ahmedabad.

No arrests have been made so far.

Locals, merchants, social workers, corporators and political leaders including Purshottam Solanki were present for his funeral.

Ashvin, who belonged to Koli community, was a BJP member of Una civic ward no 10 and was elected several times. His mother and brother are both BJP corporators, while his father late Chagganbhai Babadia was an ex-president of Una municipality.
